Created from a standard Indian Motorcycle Scout Bobber, Moore Speed Racing (MSR) has pushed the boundaries with their latest bespoke creation, ‘The 300’.

Since joining the Indian Motorcycle dealer network in 2013 Moore Speed Racing dealer principle Colin Moore and his team have been creating unique one-off Indian Motorcycles for their valued customers; born from a passion for engineering and enhanced performance, MSR rose to notoriety in the Motorcycle community by creating extreme streetfighters and performance customs. Their latest creation is no different, designed by Colin Moore and handbuilt by qualified Indian Motorcycle Gold technician, Dan Collins…

“The Scout Bobber makes such a great base for a custom as you’re able to create a number of different styles from the one chassis platform without cutting the frame. This, combined with the fact it offers class-leading, punchy low-down grunt and hi-revving engine in a modern chassis, results in great handling.”, explains Colin.

“This build was a real balancing act in terms of brief. On one hand, the owner wanted the finished machine to be true to a Scout in looks at first glance, but they also wanted something that was totally unique, that looked slick but stocky and had a number of one-off components.”

Following the brief, the conceptual design and paper sketch was produced, moving onto the Computer Aided Design (CAD) drawing and then ultimately to the finished bike.

“We came up with the idea of a fat, bad-ass Bobber with some colour running through its veins - hence the matt red, rather than the matt black look which is popular.”

The finished article has been created using a mix of nearly 40 genuine Indian Motorcycle Accessory parts, MSR Indian Scout products, aftermarket solutions and one-off bespoke handmade parts. You can find a full list of the parts used at the end of the article.

“We’ve been in the business for over 20 years now and I’d like to think that we turn people’s dreams into reality with every build. We pride ourselves on being able to work to a variety of budgets, it doesn’t matter if it’s a brand new model with no set budget for the build or someone with a 2015 model and £800-£1500 to spend, each bike can take on a whole new persona.

“Myself and the guys love working on builds and keeping our juices flowing. We enjoy creating one-off MSR parts using CAD and CNC [Computer Numerical Control] production techniques, bringing them to the market and making custom engineering more accessible to all.”

The time taken to build ‘The 300’ is described by Colin as taking ‘an eternity’, but it’s all worth it in the end when it’s handover time.

“The satisfaction we get when we see the smile on the customer’s face when they’re faced with their finished bike for the first time is absolutely priceless.”
