#MyIndianMotorcycle - Joseph Parry and his Scout Bobber
·
As part of a new #MyIndianMotorcycle series, Nineteen01 will be interviewing Indian Motorcycle owners from across the UK and Ireland to find out about them and their machines.
Despite starting his motorcycling journey just six months ago, Joseph Parry - aka @chonkfactor on Instagram - owner of a 2018 Scout Bobber purchased from Midwest Moto knew from an early age what kind of motorcycle he wanted to ride.
“I always loved bikes growing up but my dad and uncle were into rally driving, so up until now, I had spent all my money on cars! It wasn’t until last year when my mum’s partner offered to lend me some money to do my test that I was able to make my dream a reality. Part of the reason I wanted to get on two wheels was because it would be cheaper to commute, let alone it makes you feel like a badass.”, said 30-year-old Joseph.

Part of the reason I wanted to get on two wheels was because it would be cheaper to commute, let alone it makes you feel like a badass.”, said 30-year-old Joseph.
“Riding a motorcycle is the closest thing to being in your own action movie. I mean, you may look like an idiot to everyone else, but it makes you feel like you’re on top of the world. The freedom and sense of adventure that you get is unparalleled. The sensation riding offers is genuine excitement - it’s just fun!"
Knowing he wanted a cruiser, Joseph researched the various options available and settled on a shortlist, contacting dealerships and organising test rides.
“I loved the aesthetics of cruiser machines so simply searched ‘top cruisers’ on Google. The Scout Bobber was a powerhouse and looks incredible so it was on my list straight away. The team at Midwest Moto were amazing - and Indian was the only brand that would give me a test ride - as I was under 30 at the time and hadn’t had my licence very long. The dealership was so friendly.
“I wanted a motorcycle that was as close to the ‘end game’ as possible - I didn’t want to buy something that I would need to trade-up in a few years once I was bored. With the Bobber, I can just add on aftermarket parts and it’s like having a new bike.”
Joseph has already made a few changes to make his Scout Bobber his own. Fitting new Vance and Hines exhausts and his plans don’t stop there.
“I’d like to change the front headlight to LED and put some old-school 70s fork gaiters on the front, I’m also going to add saddlebags.”
Obviously, with the country in ‘lockdown’, Joseph has been limited on how far he’s been able to venture on his bike, but that doesn’t mean he’s not planning some exciting adventures for when he’s able to travel further.
“I can’t wait to head out on my first big ride. My plan is to go to Scotland and do the NC500 or something like that - throw in some photography and wild camping - just have lots of fun!”
Final world from Joseph?
“Just a massive thanks to the team at Indian Motorcycles - and Midwest Moto in particular, as without them I wouldn’t be riding my Scout Bobber and finding my passion to take pictures again.”
